Manager of University Health Network’s Telecommunication’s and Co-Chair of the UHN’s Black Legacy Committee.
Sylvia is an autodidact. She is an IT professional, gallerista curator and an emerging textile artist.
Her post-secondary education began in Chemical & Medical Technology. As a Pathology Laboratory Technologist, she lived and worked in Saudi Arabia, but it was her travel through Africa which nurtured her passion for arts.
Sylvia independently owed and curated Studio Visuals @ 503 Queen St. E. in Toronto from 2003 -2020.
The gallery served as a collaborative art space, with a focus on Jamaican and African Canadian visual arts.
Sylvia emerged as a textile artist in 2019, using non-linguistic symbols, recycled fabrics, quilting and oral history to explore her family’s journey through the African diaspora. Sylvia designs, sews, and collects art to create wellness in her life.
Sylvia is currently the manager of University Health Network’s Telecommunication’s and Co-Chair of the UHN’s Black Legacy Committee.
