BDes, Environmental Design (2020)
Emem Essien is an interdisciplinary artist and designer with keen interests in the architecture and design industry. After living in Nigeria for the first sixteen years of her life, Emem moved to Canada to further her education. Currently, her design practice is primarily based in Toronto, from where she holds a BDes in Environmental Design and a minor in Entrepreneurship and Social Innovation from OCAD University. Emem’s background in visual arts and an appreciation for technical aspects inspire her understanding of the elements of form and function incorporated into her designs. Occasionally, she demonstrates her artistic sense through drawing, painting, mixed media, graphic design, writing, and web design. Emem focuses on sustainability in terms of enriching human interaction with the built environment to encourage efficient lifestyles.
